Hospital Theater Electrical Systems
Operating-theatre and critical-care electrical for Ghana's hospitals — medical IT (isolated power) systems, UPS-backed life-safety circuits, theatre emergency lighting, and a documented, compliant handover. Commissioned by institutions, for over 20 years. 24/7 emergency cover.
In an operating theatre, the electrical installation is a life-safety system: a first earth fault must not cut the power or put current through the patient, and a mains failure must not leave a theatre dark mid-procedure. Electricals Ghana designs, installs, and commissions hospital and operating-theatre electrical systems for Ghana’s institutions — medical IT (isolated power), UPS-backed life-safety circuits, and theatre emergency lighting, handed over in writing. Commissioning for over 20 years. Call +233 27 000 0866 to brief us on a theatre or critical-care project.
Why Theatre Electrical Is Different
A general ward can tolerate a brief outage; a Group 2 medical location — an operating theatre, ICU, or catheter lab — cannot. The patient is connected to equipment, often anaesthetised, and a power interruption or an earth fault at the wrong moment is a clinical emergency. That is why theatre power is built around isolation, monitoring, and no-break standby, not just sockets and breakers. We engineer to that standard, document it, and prove it at commissioning.
What We Install
Medical IT (Isolated Power) Systems
For each theatre: the isolating transformer, the insulation-monitoring device with its remote alarm at the theatre control panel, and a dedicated clean earth — so a first earth fault alarms instead of tripping, and the procedure continues safely.
UPS & Standby Coordination
We size the UPS for the no-break load (monitoring, isolated-power circuits) and coordinate it with the hospital standby generator for the rest, setting and proving the changeover so a mains or ECG failure transfers within the window the equipment can ride through.
Theatre Emergency & Escape Lighting
Maintained theatre lighting and escape-route emergency lighting on dedicated life-safety circuits, tested for duration — so the room and the route out stay lit if power is lost.
Medical Socket Panels & Clean Earthing
Colour-coded medical socket panels, equipotential bonding, and a clean earth reference for sensitive equipment, terminated and tested to a documented standard.
What a Theatre Electrical Commission Covers
| The system | What we deliver |
|---|---|
| Medical IT (isolated power) | Isolating transformer, insulation monitoring, remote alarm, clean earth |
| UPS & standby | No-break UPS sized to load, generator changeover, proven transfer times |
| Emergency & escape lighting | Maintained theatre + escape lighting, duration-tested life-safety circuits |
| Medical socket panels | Colour-coded panels, equipotential bonding, documented earthing |
| Commissioning & handover | Test records, as-installed drawings, planned-maintenance schedule |
How We Deliver a Theatre Installation
- Survey the clinical brief — Group 2 locations, life-support points, hold-up times, with the facilities and clinical leads.
- Design isolated power, UPS & standby — isolating transformer, insulation monitoring, no-break UPS, generator changeover.
- Install life-safety & emergency lighting — dedicated circuits, medical socket panels, automatic transfer.
- Test, commission & hand over in writing — insulation monitoring, changeover times, lighting duration, full commissioning record.
Commercial & Institutional Tier — With 24/7 Cover
Hospital theatre work is a commercial, institutional commission: surveyed, engineered, and quoted against your actual spaces and equipment, owned end-to-end by a named member of the Project Office. Because a clinical facility cannot wait, we also carry a 24/7 emergency-cover line for the institutions we install for — a theatre that loses isolation or standby is attended out of hours, not deferred to the next working day.
Licensed & Accountable
- Energy-Commission-licensed electricians (Certified Electrical Wiring Professionals) working to Ghana’s electrical wiring regulations (L.I. 2008) and the GS 1009:2012 wiring code
- Established over 20 years ago — a real institutional contractor with a named Project Office, not a listing
- Written commissioning records, as-installed drawings, and a planned-maintenance schedule for your accreditation file

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a medical IT (isolated power) system and why does a theatre need one? It is an isolated, unearthed supply through an isolating transformer with insulation monitoring. In a theatre, ICU, or catheter lab a first earth fault alarms instead of cutting power or putting current through the patient — so the procedure finishes safely. We design, install, and commission it.
Do you provide UPS and standby, or only the wiring? Both, as one engineered system — UPS sized for the no-break load, coordinated with the hospital generator, with proven changeover times.
Can you work in a live, occupied hospital? Yes — phased theatre-by-theatre, isolating only what we work on, life-safety circuits kept live, every shutdown agreed in writing beforehand.
Is this a fixed-price service? No — it is engineered and quoted against your actual spaces and equipment, with a written scope and price before work starts, plus a 24/7 emergency-cover line for institutional clients. Call +233 27 000 0866.
